The Royal Swedish Opera (Kungliga Operan) is centrally located at Gustav Adolfs torg 2 in Stockholm’s Norrmalm district, right on the eastern side of Gustav Adolfs Torg square. The opera house stands across from the Royal Palace and the Parliament, overlooking the Norrström river and adjacent to the Kungsträdgården park. This historic venue, founded in 1773 and housed in a grand 1890s building, is Sweden’s national stage for opera and ballet. Nearby, you’ll find several major landmarks: the Royal Palace is just across the Norrbro bridge, the Parliament House (Riksdag) is a short walk away, and St. Jacobs Church and the Museum of Medieval Stockholm are close by.
