Park Colonnade

About

Park Colonnade is one of Karlovy Vary’s most elegant architectural relics, a light cast‑iron structure from 1881 that once formed part of a grand spa concert hall. Designed by Vienna’s renowned Fellner & Helmer studio, it showcases delicate floral motifs and airy arches that give it a romantic, almost lace‑like appearance. Although only a portion of the original building survives, it remains a beloved reminder of the town’s Belle Époque era. Inside the colonnade you can taste the Snake Spring, known for its unusually cool temperature and distinct mineral profile. The sheltered space often hosts small cultural events, echoing its historic role as a social gathering point for spa guests. Nearby flowerbeds and the surrounding park create a peaceful atmosphere, making it a pleasant stop during a walk between the Hot Spring Colonnade and the Mill Colonnade.

Location

The Park Colonnade (Sadová kolonáda) is an elegant cast-iron structure located in Dvořákovy sady (Dvořák’s Park) on the left bank of the Teplá River in the spa centre of Karlovy Vary. Built in 1881 by renowned Viennese architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer, it is the last remaining part of the former Blanenský Pavilion, which once housed a concert and restaurant hall. Nearby attractions are all within easy walking distance. The Park Colonnade is about a 15-minute, 800-metre walk from the Hot Spring Colonnade along the left riverbank, passing the Mill Colonnade and the Army Spa Institution. The famous neo-Renaissance Mill Colonnade is just a short walk away, as is the wooden Market Colonnade with the historic Charles IV Spring. The grand stately Imperial Spa (Císařské lázně) is adjacent to the Park Colonnade, and the elegant cast-iron structure is considered part of Karlovy Vary’s spa zone. Other nearby sights include the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, the Hot Spring Geyser, the Grandhotel Pupp, the Castle Tower on a rock above the old town, and the Jan Becher Museum. The lovely Dvořák’s Park itself is a pleasant urban green space perfect for relaxation. The Park Colonnade is ideal for visitors wanting a quieter colonnade experience while remaining close to the town’s main attractions.
