The Bern Historical Museum, or Bernisches Historisches Museum, is Switzerland’s second-largest historical museum and a major cultural landmark, located at Helvetiaplatz 5 in central Bern. Housed in a striking building inspired by medieval castles and completed in 1894, the museum features over 500,000 objects spanning prehistory to the present, including archaeological finds, ethnographic treasures, military artifacts, and significant items from Bern’s own history such as Renaissance silver and Burgundian tapestries. A highlight is the integrated Einstein Museum, which explores Albert Einstein’s life and groundbreaking work during his years in Bern, with interactive exhibits and multimedia displays.
