The Botanical Garden of Medicinal Plants in Hradec Králové is a unique oasis dedicated to healing traditions, scientific research, and the beauty of useful plants. Operated by the Faculty of Pharmacy, it serves both as a teaching garden and a peaceful retreat where visitors can explore the world of natural remedies. Its collection focuses on species used in pharmacology, herbalism, and traditional medicine, making it unlike any other garden in the city. Inside, visitors walk through themed sections presenting aromatic herbs, poisonous plants, dye‑producing species, and medicinal shrubs. Each area highlights how plants have shaped human health across centuries. A particularly interesting part is the greenhouse zone, where tropical and subtropical species reveal the global origins of many modern medicines. Labels and displays explain active substances, historical uses, and current pharmaceutical applications. The garden also preserves rare and endangered species important for research and conservation. During the growing season, the air fills with the scents of mint, sage, and lavender, creating a calm atmosphere ideal for study or quiet relaxation.
