The State Opera Banská Bystrica (Štátna opera) is located at Národná 11 in Banská Bystrica, central Slovakia, in the National House (Národný dom) building. The building was constructed between 1927-1929 and designed by the renowned Slovak architect Emil Beluš, and thanks to its unique architectural solution, it was declared a national monument. Near the State Opera, visitors can explore several major attractions. Slovak National Uprising Square (Námestie SNP), the historic main square and lively heart of the city, is just 350 meters away. The Museum of the Slovak National Uprising, one of the top attractions dedicated to WWII history and the Slovak National Uprising, is 294 meters from downtown and within easy walking distance. Banská Bystrica Castle (Town Castle), a 14th-century medieval fortress, is just 49 meters from downtown and very close to the opera. The Clock Tower, the most noticeable landmark on SNP Square, is nearby, along with Marian Square offering a charming atmosphere.
