Hvezdáreň na Vartovke (Vartovka Observatory) is located on the southeastern side of Urpín Hill in Banská Bystrica, central Slovakia. The observatory sits on a hill southeast of Banská Bystrica, and access is possible from Žltý Piesok Street (marked with blue stars) or from the Banská Bystrica-Mesto railway station via the educational trail Serpentíny Urpín and the blue tourist trail. Near the observatory, visitors can explore several attractions. The educational trail Serpentíny Urpín provides a scenic walking route from the railway station to the observatory. Slovak National Uprising Square (Námestie SNP), the historic main square, is easily accessible from the hill. The Clock Tower, Banská Bystrica Castle (14th-century medieval fortress), and the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising are all within walking distance in the city center. The Cathedral of Saint Francis Xavier, a stunning Baroque church, and Marian Square offer charming atmospheres nearby.
