City Park (Városliget) is Budapest’s historic green oasis, offering a blend of nature, culture, and leisure in the heart of the city. Established in the early 19th century as Hungary’s first public park, Városliget is home to several of Budapest’s top attractions. At its entrance stands Heroes’ Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site with the Millennium Monument and statues of national leaders. Within the park, you’ll find the fairytale-like Vajdahunyad Castle, which houses the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture, and the famous Széchenyi Thermal Bath, one of Europe’s largest and most beautiful spa complexes. The Budapest Zoo, one of the oldest in the world, and the Municipal Circus provide family-friendly entertainment, while the park’s boating lake transforms into Europe’s largest outdoor ice rink in winter. Recent renovations have restored the park’s vibrant atmosphere, adding modern playgrounds, the House of Music, and the Museum of Ethnography.
