Place Kléber is the beating heart of Strasbourg, a vast square that has long served as the city’s central gathering place. Named after General Jean-Baptiste Kléber, a native of Strasbourg and hero of the French Revolutionary Wars, the square combines historical resonance with modern vibrancy. Surrounded by elegant façades, including the Aubette building designed in the 18th century, Place Kléber reflects the city’s architectural evolution and civic pride. At its center stands the statue of Kléber, beneath which his remains are interred, making the square both a memorial and a public forum. Today, Place Kléber hosts cultural events, seasonal markets, and the city’s famous Christmas tree, drawing locals and visitors alike. Its open space and lively atmosphere make it a focal point for daily life, embodying Strasbourg’s blend of history, tradition, and cosmopolitan spirit.

Place Kléber is located in the heart of Strasbourg's UNESCO-listed Grande Île historic center, serving as the city's largest pedestrian square and main commercial hub just a short walk south of Cathédrale Notre-Dame. At its center rises the 21-meter statue of General Jean-Baptiste Kléber atop his mausoleum, surrounded by flower beds, water jets, and the striking 18th-century Aubette building with its avant-garde interiors and free museum. Nearby attractions include Maison Rouge hotel, the medieval streets leading to La Petite France and Ponts Couverts about 10 minutes southwest, Place Gutenberg with its Gutenberg statue, and easy access to the Neustadt district's grand boulevards and Palais du Rhin.​
