Jardin de la Place de la République is located at the heart of Strasbourg's Neustadt UNESCO World Heritage district, forming the central circular garden within the grand square bounded by four symmetrical avenues and radiating paths. This 19th-century landscaped oasis features majestic century-old trees like ginkgo biloba and magnolias that burst into golden autumn hues and pink spring blossoms, centered around a poignant 1936 war memorial by sculptor Drivier depicting a mother with sons lost to both France and Germany. Nearby rise the imposing Palais du Rhin with its dome at the square's head, the National and University Library, National Theatre of Strasbourg, and tree-lined Avenue de la Paix leading south to the historic Grande Île, Cathédrale Notre-Dame, and Place Kléber just a 10-minute walk away.
