Planétarium du Jardin des Sciences is located within the Jardin des Sciences cultural district on the historic Imperial Campus in Strasbourg's Neustadt UNESCO World Heritage area, adjacent to the Observatoire Astronomique and botanical gardens north of Place de la République. Housed in a striking modern truncated-cone building designed by Cardin Julien architecture, evoking 19th-century machine aesthetics like the observatory dome, this immersive venue features a 138-seat projection hall under a dome for star shows, educational films, and astronomy workshops blending heritage with cutting-edge projections. The site integrates with the 1981 original planetarium in the observatory's meridian room using a Spitz 512 projector, now complemented by this 2023 facility amid landscaped gardens hosting lectures, exhibitions, and family events. Nearby stand Parc des Contades, Église Saint-Thomas, Palais du Rhin, National Library, tram lines B/E at République stop, and 15-minute walks to Cathédrale Notre-Dame and Grande Île historic center.​
