Grande Île is Strasbourg's UNESCO World Heritage historic center, forming an island bounded by the River Ill and Faux-Rempart canal in the heart of the city, connected by 21 bridges and encompassing medieval streets, Gothic landmarks, and half-timbered architecture from Roman times onward. This pedestrian-friendly core centers on Cathédrale Notre-Dame at Place de la Cathédrale, with key sites like Palais Rohan museums, Maison Kammerzell, and Place Gutenberg nearby.
