Domus Artium 2002, known as DA2, is Salamanca’s leading centre for contemporary art and a vibrant space dedicated to experimentation and new creative languages. Established in a former prison and transformed for Salamanca’s designation as European Capital of Culture in 2002, the building itself is part of the experience, blending stark architecture with bold artistic expression. Inside, visitors encounter a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions featuring photography, digital art, installations, and works by emerging and established artists from Spain and beyond. DA2 places strong emphasis on innovation and dialogue, offering a platform for cutting‑edge practices that challenge traditional boundaries. Its open, flexible galleries encourage reflection and discovery, making it a key destination for anyone interested in the evolution of contemporary culture.

Domus Artium 2002 (DA2) is located on Avenida de la Aldehuela, in the 37003 district on the eastern side of Salamanca, in a converted former provincial prison building. It stands just outside the historic centre, near the banks of the River Tormes and close to major access roads into the city. Within roughly a kilometre you can reach Salamanca’s Old and New Cathedrals, the Torre del Clavero tower and several historic exhibition halls such as Santo Domingo de la Cruz, making it easy to combine a visit with the main monuments of the UNESCO‑listed old town.
