The Convent of San Esteban is one of Salamanca’s most impressive architectural ensembles, a masterpiece of the Dominican Order that has shaped the city’s religious and intellectual history since the 16th century. Convent of San Esteban is located on Plaza del Concilio de Trento in the historic centre of Salamanca, just downhill from the cathedrals and a short walk from Plaza de Anaya. This grand Dominican monastery anchors the eastern side of the old town, with its Plateresque façade facing the square and easy access from the University quarter. Nearby stand the Old and New Cathedrals, Palacio de Anaya, Casa Lis museum and viewpoints over the River Tormes, while to the west lie Plaza Mayor, Iglesia de San Martín and the main pedestrian streets of the UNESCO-listed core, making it a natural stop on routes through Salamanca’s monumental heart.
