Mercado de San Juan is located on Calle Velarde, on the eastern side of Salamanca, in a residential neighbourhood a short distance from the historic centre. It occupies a multi-storey market building that serves as a local shopping hub rather than a tourist monument, with bus routes and main roads nearby providing easy access to and from the old town. In the surrounding streets you will find everyday cafés, bars and small shops, and from the market it is a manageable walk or brief bus ride back towards Plaza Mayor, the Mercado Central and the main sights of Salamanca’s UNESCO-listed historic core.
