The Museu Coleção Berardo, now part of the MAC/CCB Museum, is Lisbon’s premier destination for modern and contemporary art. Located in the Belém Cultural Center, it houses an internationally acclaimed collection featuring works by Picasso, Warhol, Miró, Duchamp, and Lichtenstein. Originally established in 2007, the museum showcases nearly 900 pieces spanning major artistic movements from Cubism to Pop Art. Visitors can explore paintings, sculptures, photography, and multimedia installations across two floors. The museum’s terrace offers stunning views of the nearby Jerónimos Monastery. Temporary exhibitions complement the permanent collection, ensuring a dynamic experience for art lovers. Easily accessible by train or tram, the museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, with admission starting at €5. Entry is free on the first Sunday of each month, and discounts are available with the Lisboa Card.

The Museu Coleção Berardo is located at Praça do Império, within the Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon’s historic Belém district, an area celebrated for its cultural richness and proximity to some of the city’s most significant landmarks. The museum was previously known for its outstanding collection of modern and contemporary art, but since early 2023, its collection has formed part of the inaugural presentation at the Museum of Contemporary Art within the Belém Cultural Center (CCB), maintaining its status as a central hub for artistic innovation and creativity in Lisbon. Directly across the street from the museum stands the magnificent Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its Manueline architecture and historical importance. Nearby, visitors can also explore the iconic Belém Tower, a symbol of Portugal’s Age of Discoveries, and the Monument to the Discoveries, both offering panoramic views of the Tagus River and the city. The area is also home to the National Coach Museum, which houses one of the world’s finest collections of royal carriages, and the renowned Pastéis de Belém bakery, famous for its traditional custard tarts.
