Jardim da Estrela, also known as Jardim Guerra Junqueiro, is located at Praça da Estrela 12, 1200-694 Lisboa, in the Estrela district of Lisbon, directly across from the striking Basílica da Estrela, one of the city’s most beautiful churches with its distinctive domed silhouette. This romantic 19th-century park is a favorite among locals and visitors for its lush greenery, winding paths, exotic plants, and tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for picnics, leisurely walks, or simply relaxing by the duck ponds and playgrounds. The park’s wrought-iron bandstand, originally from Avenida da Liberdade, hosts occasional concerts and markets, and the on-site café provides a pleasant spot to unwind. Just behind the park, across Rua de São Jorge, lies the historic English Cemetery, the resting place of notable figures like novelist Henry Fielding, author of "Tom Jones," and Thomas Barclay, the first American consul in France. The Estrela neighborhood is known for its affluent residential charm and is well connected by public transport, including trams 25 and 28, which stop right by the park’s entrance, as well as bus 709 from the city center.
