Aeroplane Museum

The Aeroplane Museum in Košice is a must‑see destination for aviation enthusiasts, offering one of Slovakia’s richest collections of military and civilian aircraft. Located near the city’s airport, it preserves machines that once served in the Czechoslovak Air Force, Warsaw Pact units, and various civilian operators. One of its most interesting facts is that several aircraft were rescued directly from decommissioning lines, making the museum a rare sanctuary for Cold War aviation history. Inside the hangars and outdoor area, visitors can admire iconic jets such as the MiG‑21, MiG‑23, and Su‑22, alongside transport aircraft, trainers, and helicopters. Many cockpits are displayed open, allowing a close look at analogue instruments and cramped pilot spaces.
