The Franciscan Church in Košice, officially known as St. Anthony of Padua Church, is located at Hlavná (Main Street) in the historic center of the city, right on the main pedestrian thoroughfare of the old town. It is the second oldest preserved church in Košice, originally built in the 14th century for the Franciscans by the Perényi noble family after a fire, and is therefore also called the Franciscan Church or Seminary Church. The church began as a Gothic building but was later rebuilt in Baroque style, with its current appearance reflecting both Gothic and Baroque elements. It stands next to the Franciscan Monastery, forming an important historic religious complex in the heart of the city. The Franciscan Church is ideally situated in Košice's main tourist area, with many top attractions just a few steps away. Nearby, you can visit St. Elizabeth Cathedral, the Urban Tower, St. Michael's Chapel, the Singing Fountain, the main square, Dominican Church on Dominican Square, Csáky–Dessewffy Palace, Andrássy Palace, Jakab Palace, the East Slovak Museum, the Underground Archaeological Complex at the Lower Gate, and Mikluš Prison Museum.
