Église Saint‑François is one of Lausanne’s most storied churches, standing at the heart of the city since the 13th century. Originally part of a Franciscan convent, it survived the Reformation, urban redesigns, and centuries of civic life, becoming a landmark that blends medieval origins with a modern urban setting. Its tall, slender tower is a familiar silhouette above the bustling square. Inside, the church’s atmosphere is defined by clean Gothic lines, pale stone, and a sense of openness unusual for a former monastic space. The nave’s pointed arches create a rhythmic, almost serene geometry.
