STAM, the Ghent City Museum, offers a captivating journey through the city’s past, present, and future. Housed in a blend of historic abbey buildings and sleek contemporary architecture, it invites visitors to explore Ghent’s evolution through immersive displays, interactive media, and striking visual storytelling. A giant aerial map forms the heart of the museum, encouraging guests to literally walk across the city and trace its layers of history. Exhibits reveal how Ghent grew from a medieval powerhouse into a vibrant modern hub shaped by trade, culture, and innovation. Temporary exhibitions add fresh perspectives, while the serene cloister and courtyard provide a peaceful contrast to the dynamic galleries. STAM is not just a museum but a gateway to understanding Ghent’s identity, offering context that enriches any visit to the city.
