Hartebrugkerk, also known as the Coeliekerk, is one of Leiden’s most recognisable churches, standing prominently along the lively Haarlemmerstraat. Built in the early 19th century, it reflects a graceful neoclassical style, with a striking façade inspired by ancient Roman temples and crowned by statues of Faith, Hope, and Charity. The church was dedicated to the Sacred Heart, giving it its current name, and served as an important centre for the city’s Catholic community.
