Plantsoen Leiden is located along the Zoeterwoudsesingel canal in Leiden's historic inner city, Netherlands, spanning postcodes 2311 KD to KM in the Levendaal-Oost neighbourhood. Laid out between 1835 and 1842 by city architect Salomon van der Paauw in English landscape style on the site of demolished 19th-century city walls, this oldest public park in Leiden's centre features majestic 120-200-year-old trees, lush lawns, a playground, dog run, and waterside picnic spots. Nearby are the Singelpark greenway, central canals for boating, Leiden Centraal Station about 20 minutes' walk away, and easy access to the bustling city core with shops, cafés, and landmarks like the Burcht van Leiden.
