Carefully restored to its historical appearance, the museum invites visitors into a traditional classroom where quills, slates, abacuses and colourful educational charts recreate the atmosphere of lessons from decades past. Creaking wooden stairs lead to upstairs rooms that reveal layers of old wallpaper and everyday objects once used by pupils and teachers, from food canisters to century‑old desks and maps from the Russian era. The former teacher’s outbuilding adds another glimpse into school life, displaying sports equipment and teaching tools. With its hands‑on activities and evocative setting, Lagstad School Museum offers an engaging way to reflect on how education in Espoo has evolved while reconnecting visitors with the simplicity and character of earlier school days.

Lagstad School Museum is located at Vanha Lagstadintie 4, 02770 Espoo, in the Lagstad district by the Espoo River, directly opposite the medieval Espoo Church. The museum is housed in the former teacher’s residence of Lagstad Folk School, within easy walking distance of the historic churchyard, the old Lagstad school building, and the Espoo town‑centre riverbank area, which together form a compact cultural and heritage site in central Espoo. Nearby, visitors can also reach Espoo’s main bus and rail stops on foot, combine a visit with a stroll along the Espoo River promenade, and easily continue to other Espoo City Museum sites such as KAMU in Tapiola by public transport.
