Espoo Theatre is the city’s international theatre, known for its bold, contemporary repertoire and its role as a major cultural force in Tapiola. As Finland’s only fully international theatre, it presents a wide range of productions from modern drama and physical theatre to multidisciplinary works and collaborations with European partners. Its stages, including Revontuli and Louhisali, host premieres, visiting companies and festivals such as &Fest, which brings cutting‑edge performances from across Europe. The theatre is also deeply rooted in the local community, running projects that connect residents of diverse backgrounds through shared artistic experiences. A new purpose‑built theatre building is planned beside the Espoo Cultural Centre, promising modern facilities and expanded possibilities for future productions. Espoo Theatre (Espoon teatteri) is located in the Tapiola district of Espoo, with its main venue at Revontulentie 8, 02100 Espoo, about 500 metres from Tapiola metro station, and a second stage inside the Espoo Cultural Centre a short walk from the metro as well. The theatre sits in the heart of Espoo’s cultural hub, close to the Espoo Cultural Centre, Tapiola swimming pool, AINOA shopping centre, and the Tapiola Garden hotel, making it easy to combine a performance visit with dining, shopping, and a swim or stroll around the Tapiola central area. Nearby cultural neighbours include EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art, KAMU – Espoo City Museum, Exhibition Centre WeeGee, and the Tapiola Sinfonietta, all within a short metro or bus ride in the same Tapiola‑WeeGee cultural corridor.
