The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas in Tampere is a national museum dedicated to working life and social history, located in the historic Finlayson factory area. Its main exhibition, United, traces the story of the Finnish labour movement from the 19th century to today, highlighting everyday experiences of workers, trade unions, cooperatives, and the rise of the welfare state. Visitors can also explore the Industry Museum, which presents two centuries of Tampere’s industrial development through machines, photographs, and interactive displays, and the Steam Engine Museum, home to a massive early‑20th‑century Sulzer engine that once powered the Finlayson mill. As the largest free museum in Finland, Werstas offers an accessible and engaging cultural experience with regularly changing exhibitions that examine class, work, and contemporary social issues.
