About

Hatanpää Arboretum is one of Tampere’s most beautiful park areas, set on the Hatanpää peninsula by Lake Pyhäjärvi. Formed around the historic Hatanpää Manor and expanded into a botanical garden in the 1970s, it brings together old manor landscapes, themed gardens and a rich collection of trees, shrubs and perennials. Its most famous feature is the rose garden, blooming south of the manor and drawing visitors throughout the summer. The arboretum’s paths lead through varied plantings, lakeside views and peaceful lawns, creating a setting that feels both cultivated and natural. Historic buildings such as the manor and the Idman villa add cultural depth, while seasonal cafés make the area a popular destination for leisurely walks, photography and quiet relaxation close to the city centre.

This lush park boasts over 100 rose varieties, diverse trees with labeled plaques, a pond, and Arboretum Café for picnics amid rolling lawns. Härmälä Airport lies nearby for scenic flights, while Vihilahdenpuisto Park extends southward with more trails. Lakeside paths connect to Eteläpuisto and Ratina Stadium across the water, with trams or a 30-minute walk from Keskustori square offering easy access.
