Tampereen Ursa Observatory, located atop the Kauppi water tower in the Petsamo district, is the home of Tampere’s active amateur astronomy community. The observatory serves as the main base of Tampereen Ursa, offering stargazing sessions, courses and public events throughout the darker seasons. Its dome houses modern telescopes used for observing planets, deep‑sky objects and the Sun, while a small planetarium helps visitors explore the night sky even on cloudy evenings. Although there are no fixed opening hours, the observatory regularly hosts club nights, guided observing sessions and monthly public events from autumn to spring. Set within the forested Kauppi recreational area, the observatory combines scientific curiosity with a peaceful natural setting, making it a distinctive destination for anyone interested in astronomy in Tampere.

Tampereen Ursa Observatory is located at Kaupinpuistonkatu 28, 33500 Tampere, Finland, in the Kauppi district near the water tower. It sits within Kauppi's green campus area, close to Tampere University's sports facilities and nature trails ideal for hiking and birdwatching. The expansive Hiedanranta development nearby offers lakeside paths and modern recreational spots along Lake Pyhäjärvi. Ratina Stadium and the city center's Keskustori square lie about 3 km south, reachable by bus 25 or 30 in 10-15 minutes, while Pyynikki Park provides additional scenic walks within a short drive.
