It is a very easy landmark to find while walking through the historic centre. Nearby, the statue sits in one of Bergen’s most active sightseeing areas. The Fish Market is directly opposite or just across the street, so visitors can combine the monument with Bergen’s best-known food and harbour stop. Bryggen, the UNESCO-listed Hanseatic wharf, is also within easy walking distance, giving the area a strong historic feel with its old wooden buildings and maritime heritage. The harbourfront, Bergen National Theatre, and the main shopping streets around Torgallmenningen are all close by, making this a convenient place to pause during a city walk.
