Located at Munkvoll, the museum centres on a collection of beautifully restored trams, from early wooden cars to later electric models that once ran through Trondheim’s streets. Visitors can step inside selected vehicles, explore technical details and learn about the people who operated and maintained the network. Archival photographs, tools and uniforms add depth to the narrative, showing how the tramway influenced daily life and urban development. During the summer season, historic trams often run on a short heritage line, bringing the past to life in motion.

Trondheim Tramway Museum is located at Vognhallveien 1b in the Munkvoll area of Trondheim, housed in the historic depot of the Gråkallbanen line, about 6 km northeast of the city center. Easily reached by the still-operating heritage tram from St. Olavs gate, it showcases vintage trams, service vehicles, posters, and tickets tracing the city's rail history from 1901. This northeastern spot on the Gråkallbanen route anchors a peaceful residential zone with easy city links, blending transport nostalgia with nearby nature and urban draws for extended outings.
