Vidzeme Concert Hall CĒSIS

About

Vidzeme Concert Hall CĒSIS is one of Latvia’s most acclaimed modern cultural venues, a striking fusion of contemporary architecture and the artistic spirit of Cēsis. Opened in 2014, the building was designed to harmonise with the town’s historic landscape while offering state‑of‑the‑art facilities for music, theatre, and interdisciplinary arts. Its warm wooden interiors and excellent acoustics have made it a favourite among performers, particularly the Cēsis Symphony Orchestra, which calls the hall its home. One of the hall’s most interesting features is its multifunctional design: the Great Hall can adapt to symphonic concerts, chamber music, cinema, and large‑scale stage productions, while smaller spaces host exhibitions, workshops, and community events. The rooftop terrace offers panoramic views over the old town, adding an unexpected architectural flourish. Vidzeme Concert Hall also plays a central role in the annual Cēsis Art Festival, attracting leading Latvian and international artists. Today it stands as a symbol of the town’s cultural ambition, blending innovation with a deep respect for artistic tradition.
