MuZEH Lab in Durrës is one of the city’s most innovative cultural spaces, a hybrid museum‑studio dedicated to experimentation, community storytelling, and contemporary heritage. Unlike traditional museums, MuZEH Lab focuses on creative processes—how objects, memories, and urban fragments can be reinterpreted through art, design, and technology. Its mission is to turn Durrës’ layered history into living material for new ideas. Inside, the most intriguing section is the interactive archive, where photographs, documents, and personal stories are digitised and transformed into multimedia installations. Visitors can explore themes like migration, coastal identity, and urban change through tactile and digital interfaces. Another highlight is the urban archaeology corner, displaying fragments of everyday objects—tiles, tools, ceramics—collected from the city’s streets and construction sites, showing how modern Durrës sits atop centuries of human activity. MuZEH Lab also hosts rotating exhibitions featuring contemporary Albanian artists who work with video, sound, and experimental materials. Workshops and community projects invite locals to contribute their own memories, making the museum a collaborative space rather than a static collection.
Durrës Albania
MuZEH Lab is a small cultural space and museum in the old part of Durrës, focused on art, heritage and creative ideas. You will find it at Rruga Enver Zazani, Durrës, just a couple of streets back from the main boulevard in the historic center. It is not a big classic museum, more like a lab and meeting point for exhibitions and cultural projects, very easy to reach on foot from the center. Since you are right in the old town, there is a lot around you. The Durrës Amphitheatre is just a short walk away, which is the city's most famous attraction. Close by you also have the Byzantine Forum, the Roman Baths and the little Peeping Tourist Museum that shows life during communism. A bit further down you get to the Archaeological Museum on Rruga Taulantia, the largest in Albania, plus the Ethnographic Museum in the Aleksandër Moisiu House, the Venetian Tower and the old city walls. The seafront promenade with its cafes and restaurants is also just around the corner.
