Outside, a striking open-air display features decommissioned artillery and armored vehicles, including pieces captured during World War II and remnants from the 1999 NATO bombing campaign. Particularly notable is the wreckage of a downed US F-117 stealth aircraft, a symbol of Serbia’s modern military history. Founded in 1878, the museum occupies a building originally constructed for the Military-Geographic Institute and features a vast collection spanning from ancient Roman and Greek arms to modern military equipment, uniforms, and artifacts. Outside, visitors are greeted by an impressive display of tanks, cannons, and artillery pieces from various eras, including World War II and the Yugoslav period. The museum is set within Kalemegdan Park, a popular green space that surrounds the fortress and offers panoramic river views. Nearby attractions include the Belgrade Zoo, the Victor Monument, and the bustling pedestrian zone of Knez Mihailova Street.
