The Museum of Ivo Andrić in Belgrade honors the life and legacy of Serbia’s only Nobel Prize-winning author. Located at Andrićev Venac 8, in the apartment where Andrić lived from 1958 until his death, the museum preserves the authentic atmosphere of his personal and creative space. Opened on October 10, 1976—his birthday—the museum features the writer’s study and salon, carefully maintained as they were during his lifetime. Exhibits include personal documents, photographs, manuscripts, and awards, notably his Nobel Prize medal and plaque. Andrić’s extensive personal library, comprising over 4,500 volumes, is also on display, with many books annotated in his own hand. The museum offers a rare glimpse into the private world of a literary giant whose works, such as The Bridge on the Drina, continue to shape the cultural identity of the region. It stands as both a memorial and a scholarly resource, inviting visitors to reflect on the enduring power of literature and the life of one of its most profound voices.
