Ada Ciganlija, often called “Belgrade’s Sea,” is a beloved recreational peninsula on the Sava River, just minutes from the city center. Once a river island, it was transformed into a peninsula and now features a 7-kilometer-long beach along Lake Sava, attracting thousands daily during summer. Ada Ciganlija is a popular recreational peninsula located on the Sava River, just southwest of central Belgrade, within the Čukarica municipality. Once a river island, it has been transformed into a vibrant urban oasis known as “Belgrade’s Sea,” attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors, especially in summer. The area features a long, well-equipped beach along Lake Sava, extensive sports facilities, walking and cycling trails, and opportunities for swimming, kayaking, water skiing, and golf. Ada Ciganlija is also famous for its lively bars, restaurants, and floating river clubs, making it a hotspot for nightlife and outdoor events. Nearby, you’ll find the neighborhoods of Senjak, Čukarica, and Makiš, as well as Ada Međica, another river island, and the Ada Bridge, which connects the area to New Belgrade.
