Alkatraz Gallery, founded in 1996, is a dynamic contemporary art space located within Ljubljana’s Autonomous Cultural Centre Metelkova mesto. Managed by the KUD Mreža Arts and Culture Association, the gallery emerged from a grassroots transformation of a former military barracks into a hub for creative expression. Alkatraz is known for its commitment to experimental and socially engaged art, often spotlighting emerging artists and underrepresented voices. It fosters long-term artistic development through collaborative projects, post-production support, and integration into both local and international art communities.
