Founded in 1955, the Slovenian Youth Theatre (Slovensko mladinsko gledališče), also known as Mladinsko Theatre, is a pioneering cultural institution in Ljubljana. Originally established as Slovenia’s first professional theatre for children and youth, it quickly evolved into a hub for experimental and politically engaged performance. Located in the Baraga Seminary, a building designed by Jože Plečnik, the theatre is known for its bold dramaturgy, ensemble-driven productions, and interdisciplinary approach. Mladinsko challenges conventional theatre by blending social critique with innovative staging, often touring internationally and engaging audiences far beyond Slovenia.
