Teatar &TD, part of Zagreb’s Student Centre, has been a hub for experimental and contemporary theatre since 1962, taking its current name in 19672. Housed in the former Italian Pavilion from 1937, it offers two distinctive stages: the larger main hall and the flexible Polukružna space. Known for embracing bold, unconventional works, it has hosted Croatian and international greats, from Eugène Ionesco to Dario Fo, and premiered the legendary Stilske vježbe, the world’s longest-running play with the same cast. Its programming champions emerging artists, interdisciplinary projects, and collaborations with independent troupes, making it a vital platform for fresh voices and avant-garde performance. With a legacy of risk-taking and innovation, Teatar &TD continues to challenge audiences and expand the boundaries of the stage.
Zagreb CroatiaTeatar &TD is located at Savska cesta 25, within the Student Center complex in Zagreb’s city center. The theater occupies the former Italian Pavilion, a space renowned for hosting innovative performances that appeal to adventurous audiences. Its vibrant location places it near the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, the Botanical Garden of Zagreb, and the Mimara Museum, all within easy walking distance. Visitors will also find the Croatian National Theatre and various university facilities nearby, creating a lively atmosphere often frequented by students, artists, and locals alike. The surrounding Student Center complex includes cafés, bars, and cultural spaces, making Teatar &TD a dynamic starting point for experiencing the creative pulse of Zagreb’s arts and university district.
