Established in 1969 as the Trešnjevka Small Theatre, City Theatre Trešnja is one of Zagreb’s leading stages for children and young audiences. Housed in a striking building with a tiled façade, dome, and signature cherry emblem, it offers a modern 310-seat auditorium designed for immersive storytelling. Its repertoire blends adaptations of classic fairy tales, contemporary works, and original plays, often enriched with music, dance, and elaborate stagecraft. After a major reconstruction completed in 2000, Trešnja emerged as a state-of-the-art venue with a permanent ensemble of around twenty actors, staging over 200 performances annually. Beyond entertainment, it fosters creativity and cultural literacy through educational programs, workshops, and collaborations with Croatian and international artists. With its vibrant productions and commitment to artistic excellence, Trešnja remains a cherished cultural landmark where generations discover the joy and wonder of theatre.
