Gallery ARKA is one of Vilnius’s most prominent contemporary art spaces, located in the historic ensemble of the former Basilian Monastery in the Old Town. Established in 1990 and operated by the Lithuanian Artists’ Association, it spans six exhibition halls and approximately 500 square meters, making it one of the largest galleries in the city. ARKA is known for its diverse programming, hosting solo and group exhibitions, thematic showcases, and international collaborations. It regularly features innovative projects in painting, sculpture, ceramics, textile, and glass, while also presenting biennials and curated retrospectives. The gallery does not adhere to a single stylistic trend, instead prioritizing artistic quality and conceptual depth. With a strong emphasis on cultural exchange, ARKA engages with artists, institutions, and audiences both locally and abroad. It remains a dynamic venue for creative dialogue, offering a rich and evolving perspective on Lithuanian and global contemporary art.
Vilnius LithuaniaGallery ARKA is located at Aušros Vartų g. 7, in the heart of Vilnius Old Town, nestled within the historic ensemble of the former Basilian Monastery. As one of the largest and most prominent contemporary art galleries in Vilnius, it’s a cultural hub for artistic expression and exhibitions. The gallery lies at the city’s gateway, just steps from the iconic Gates of Dawn, an important religious and architectural landmark. Nearby, you’ll find the vibrant Vilnius Old Town with its cobblestone streets, historical churches such as the Church of St. Theresa and the Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit, as well as the bustling Town Hall Square filled with cafés and boutiques. The Vilnius Museum of Illusions, Uzupis district’s artistic community, and many specialty museums and galleries are all within a short walk, making Gallery ARKA an ideal starting point to explore the rich cultural and historic atmosphere of the city.
