Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs is a 14th-century former church turned cultural venue located at Place de la Principale in the heart of Avignon's UNESCO-listed historic centre, on the left bank of the Rhône River in Provence, southeastern France. Originally the Église Notre-Dame-la-Principale and later a Dominican convent, it became the chapel of the White Penitents brotherhood in the 19th century and now hosts Festival d'Avignon performances, especially for young audiences, in its intimate 164-seat space. Nearby attractions include Église Saint-Didier and Basilique Saint-Pierre churches, Place de l’Horloge with cafés and shops, Maison Jean Vilar cultural center, Musée Angladon, Palais des Papes a short walk away, city ramparts, and Rhône quays to Pont Saint-Bénézet.​
