Stadspark is Maastricht’s most atmospheric green space, stretching along the western edge of the city where nature, history and urban life blend seamlessly. Developed throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the park is composed of several interconnected sections, each with its own character, from quiet lawns and shaded paths to areas shaped by the city’s medieval fortifications. Visitors can wander past remnants of old walls, explore the leafy banks of the Jeker and discover landmarks such as the Berenkuil, once home to real bears and now an artistic corner featuring playful sculptures. The park also includes the nearby Aldenhofpark, where a bronze statue of d’Artagnan commemorates the famed musketeer who died during the Siege of Maastricht. With its mix of heritage, scenery and open space, Stadspark offers a peaceful retreat just steps from the historic centre.

Stadspark Maastricht is located on the edge of Maastricht's historic city centre, stretching south from Graanmarkt along the west bank of the River Meuse, bordered by Onze-Lieve-Vrouwewal to the east up to the John F. Kennedybrug, and westward along the Jeker river and southern city walls to Tongersestraat. Connected via Hoge Brug to Plein 1992 and Charles Eyckpark across the river, it lies adjacent to Prins Bisschopsingel, separating it from Waldeckpark and Jekerdal. Nearby you'll find the Stayokay hotel by Maasboulevard, the imposing Helpoort gate leading to Jekerkwartier, historic city walls for scenic walks, an animal park with deer, a grand fountain popular for picnics, and easy access to the city centre's Vrijthof square and Onze-Lieve-Vrouwebasiliek.
