Big Park

Big Park is Kragujevac’s beloved green landmark, a spacious 19th‑century urban oasis created during the time when the city served as Serbia’s capital. Designed as a promenade for officials and citizens alike, it remains one of the oldest planned parks in the country, known for its long alleys, mature trees, and calm atmosphere that contrasts with the city’s industrial heritage. What makes Big Park especially interesting is its historical layering. Many of the trees were planted more than a century ago, forming a living archive of the city’s past. The central promenade still follows its original layout, once used for formal walks and public gatherings.
