Founded by the Heimat- und Verschönerungsverein Dotzheim, the museum traces the development of the area from prehistoric settlements to its incorporation into Wiesbaden in 1928. Eleven exhibition rooms present themes such as church and school life, local crafts and trades, associations, and the growth of industry and infrastructure. A highlight is the reconstruction of a 19th‑century rural kitchen and a traditional shoemaker’s workshop, offering vivid insights into everyday life of past generations. Photographs, documents, and tools recall Dotzheim’s once-thriving winegrowing tradition, first mentioned in 1275. Changing special exhibitions complement the permanent displays, focusing on regional history and community identity. The Heimatmuseum Dotzheim is located next to the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) in Dotzheim, a western borough of Wiesbaden, at the historic former station house building. Dotzheim itself lies at the northwestern edge of Wiesbaden, near the wooded slopes of the Hochtaunus mountains.
