The Iglesia de Santiago el Mayor, also known as Santiago del Arrabal, is located in Toledo’s historic district at the foot of the old town, on Calle Real del Arrabal, just below the Puerta de Bisagra and the main entrance to the walled city. It stands at the base of the hill in the neighbourhood of Arrabal, very close to the old Puerta de Bisagra gate and the outdoor escalators on the Paseo de Recaredo, near the Tavera Hospital Museum (Hospital de Tavera) and the Tagus River gorge side. Nearby are the Puerta de Alfonso VI (Old Bisagra Gate), the walkways along the river, and the historic streets leading up into the old town, placing it within easy walking distance of the Cathedral of Toledo, the Alcázar, and the main Zocodover square.
