Parque de La Vega, also known as Paseo de Merchán, is an urban park located just outside the northern edge of Toledo’s historic walled city, near the Puerta Nueva de Bisagra (New Gate of Bisagra) and the Tavera Hospital Museum in the Arrabal district. It lies at the northern approach to the old town, close to the Alcázar of Toledo and the main fairground area, and is easily reached on foot from the city centre in about 10–15 minutes. Nearby are the gardens of the Tavera Hospital, the Parque de Sisebuto, the tourist office (Oficina de Turismo), and the main bus station, with the Cathedral of Toledo, the Jewish Quarter, and the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca all within a short walk into the old town.
