The Basilica of St. Elizabeth of Hungary is one of Wrocław’s most striking Gothic landmarks, rising above the Old Town with its powerful brick silhouette and soaring tower. Founded in the 14th century, it served for centuries as the main parish church of the city and a symbol of its civic pride. The interior, rebuilt after wartime damage, preserves a sense of medieval grandeur with tall, slender pillars, colourful stained glass, and richly carved altars that echo the craftsmanship of Silesian artisans. The church is also known for its impressive organ and for the panoramic viewpoint atop its tower, offering one of the finest vistas over Wrocław’s rooftops and market square. Today, the basilica remains both a place of worship and a cultural landmark, admired for its resilience, architectural harmony, and deep connection to the city’s history.
