The Cathedral of St. Vincent and St. James is one of Wrocław’s most historically layered churches, standing on the edge of Ostrów Tumski with a quiet dignity that reflects its long monastic past. Founded in the 13th century as part of a Premonstratensian abbey, it showcases a refined Gothic style, with tall brick walls, pointed arches, and a serene, balanced interior shaped by centuries of worship. Although heavily damaged during the Second World War, the cathedral was meticulously rebuilt, restoring its slender pillars, vaulted ceilings, and the calm, contemplative atmosphere that defines the space today. The church is also the resting place of Henryk Pobożny, a Silesian duke remembered for his role in defending the region during the Mongol invasion. Less visited than the nearby main cathedral, St. Vincent and St. James offers a more intimate encounter with Wrocław’s spiritual heritage, inviting visitors to appreciate its quiet beauty and enduring resilience.

The Cathedral of St. Vincent and St. James is located in the Old Town of Wrocław at Plac Nankiera 15, in the Stare Miasto district, near the bend of the Oder River. Nearby you will find the Greek‑Catholic Cathedral complex itself, the nearby Church of St. Matthew, other historic churches around Plac Nankiera and Katedralna Street, the Old Town Market Square, and the river‑front promenades leading toward Cathedral Island and the Botanical Garden, all within easy walking distance.
