Wrocław Zoo is one of the city’s most popular attractions and the oldest zoo in Poland, offering an engaging blend of history, conservation, and modern exhibition design. Founded in 1865, it has grown into a vast, beautifully landscaped complex that houses thousands of animals from every continent. Its most celebrated feature is the Afrykarium, a unique oceanarium dedicated entirely to African ecosystems, where visitors can walk through underwater tunnels surrounded by sharks, rays, and colourful fish. Beyond this, the zoo includes spacious outdoor habitats, historic pavilions, and carefully designed enclosures that highlight both biodiversity and animal welfare. Educational programmes, feeding demonstrations, and conservation initiatives make the zoo an important centre for learning and environmental awareness. Wrocław Zoo is located on Great Island (Wielka Wyspa) in the Śródmieście district at ul. Zygmunta Wróblewskiego 1–5, just next to the Centennial Hall and the Pergola, on the eastern side of the city centre. Nearby you will find the Centennial Hall and the Wrocław Multimedia Fountain at the Pergola, the Japanese Garden (Ogród Japoński), Szczytnicki Park, the Four Domes Pavilion with the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the river‑side promenades along the Odra, all within a short walk from the zoo’s main entrance.
