Turku Health Care Museum offers a vivid and sometimes startling look into more than a century of Finnish medical history. Housed in a former dermatology and venereal diseases clinic, the museum presents six rooms filled with instruments and equipment used from the late 19th century onward, including tools for treating cholera, polio, and tuberculosis, as well as lung specula and early electric shock devices from mental‑health care. A fully equipped 1960s operating room, autopsy tools, pain pumps, and maternity‑ and child‑health items from the 1940s to the 1960s illustrate how rapidly medical practices evolved. The museum also displays uniforms once worn by healthcare staff before protective gear replaced them in the late 1970s. Located on Kunnallissairaalantie, it is maintained with the support of volunteers dedicated to preserving Finland’s healthcare heritage.
