Set 30 metres below ground in tunnels carved into ancient bedrock, Aeroseum occupies a declassified military facility once considered one of Sweden’s most secret defence installations. The enormous space now showcases an impressive collection of aircraft, including iconic Swedish fighter jets such as the Draken and Viggen, along with helicopters, civilian planes, engines, and aviation equipment. Visitors can walk through the cavernous hangars, explore restored aircraft up close, and experience hands‑on activities that bring aviation to life. Flight simulators allow guests to try virtual flying, while exhibitions delve into topics such as espionage, coastguard operations, and Cold War defence strategies. The museum’s atmospheric underground setting adds a dramatic dimension to the visit, maintaining a stable year‑round temperature and preserving the authentic character of the bunker. Suitable for all ages, Aeroseum combines history, technology, and interactive learning, making it one of Gothenburg’s most distinctive and memorable attractions.

Aeroseum, an underground aviation museum housed in a Cold War-era military bunker, sits at Nya Bergets Väg 50 near Säve Airport in northern Gothenburg, Sweden. About 15 km from the city center, drive via E6/E20 north then Route 40, or take bus from Central Station changing at Skändla Rös for a 10-minute walk; ample on-site parking awaits visitors. Säve Airport offers flight spotting; Volvo Museum showcases automotive history 5 km east; Backaplan shopping center provides retail therapy nearby.
